Mentor, hero, legend

🦂🇦🇫🦂Lee was my troop corporal, we didn’t get on when I first joined the squadron and for 18 months before the tour I thought he was often hard on me. I had a bad attitude at work when I joined. Lee wasn’t being hard on me or singling me out like I first thought, he was mentoring me. Slowly stripping the attitude away and building me into a better soldier. In 2008 the rest of the regiment deployed on exercise to Canada while my squadron began pre deployment training. Lee volunteered me to go to Canada by suggesting it to my boss. I didn’t want to go but I’m so glad I did, I gained much more driving experience there and rejoined the squadron for pre deployment training on my return. I was a noticeably better soldier by the time we went to Afghanistan and I put it all down to Lee. He gave me courage out there when I was scared, he taught me to want to be better and did so by leading by example. He was an excellent soldier, mentor and friend and I was proud to have earned his respect and he will have mine forever.
